Peoples fascination with space

Why are people so fascinated by space?

As far back in history as we know, and as far back as we can remember human beings has always been explorers. Travlers in search of the unknown, pioneers taking risks so that the society would be able to know what hid in the unknown parts of the world. Like for an example Christopher Columbus who found a new world by misstake while searching for the sea route to India. Or like Lewis and Clark who decided to unveil the secrets that hid in the uncharted territory of the middle and western parts of a y oung country called America.

Since the dawn of time it has been a part of human nature to look for answers where there may lie a question. It is in our blood to look for clues that can explain why things are like they are, why the world looks like it does. We can't resist looking behind the next cornor, or on the other side of the hill in case we find an answer to one the many questions that will intrig us during our life. It is our curiosity that makes life worth living. If we weren't curios about life and didn't want to learn new things, everything would eventually become very boring. This is partly why exploring is a big part of every human beings life, where the exploration takes place dosen't realy matter, it can be in a lab, in the world of books, in the back yard or in space.

What makes space so fascinating for so many people is that it's uncharted territory. There are only a few people that has had the chance to go out in space to explore what is out there, and that makes it extra speciell. You can say that by gooing out in space we are trying to find out what is behind the next cornor. Not knowing what is out there or how big the univers is, are questions that we are burning to find an answer to. Today space is the biggest uncharted territory in this world and no one knows what opportunitys this part of the world can give us, and that is why the intrest keeps on growing.

Home sweet home

There is something special with the place where you are born. There are some kind of invisible ties that binds you to the place (or country) where you are born.

I have never lived abroad for any longer period of time, I have only been abroad on shorter vacations. I love going at there broad, to see and experiencenew things, but there is something special with the homecoming, something that is even better then going abroad. I could emagine to live in another country for a couple years while studing or working, but at the end I still would still want to move back home.

It is hard to explain what it is that ties me to my homecountry, what it is that is so special about Sweden. It is not just one thing, it is a lot of diffrent things and emotions that will always make me feel at home in my corner of the world. For an example, one thing that makes this country special is the diffrent seasons of the year, the way that the seasons influence the apperance of the nature. In the summer when the trees in the forest is standing tall swaing in the wind, and all you can her is the silence and the wind, and maybe a bird somewhere high up in a tree. Or the fields that during the summer is coverd with flowers, where you earley in the morning can see a deer or a moose eating it's breakfeast. In the winter when a thick quilt is covering the ground, everything is quiet and the sun shines on the snow that sparkles like diamonds. Or when the wind has whirl around the snow so that it looks like the ground is coverd with whipped cream. When the sun is setting and it looks like the sky is burning. When I think of these things I feel safe and calm.

These are just a couple of things that I would not chang for anything. When I look at all these things that are so special to me, I ask myself why whould I want to give this up when it's all that makes me happy, that makes me feel safe, that makes me feel like I belong somewhere.

I have to agree with Dorethy from The Wizzerd of Oz, "There is no place like home".

Why I chose the subject I did.

From my younger years to my adult life, I have many times changed my mind when it has come to chosing a profession. During one part of my life I wanted to become a figtherpilot, that plan soon disapeared when I found out that I needed glasses. From that day I started to think about what I really wanted to do with my life.

I did not really know what I wanted to become before I graduated senior high school. After a lot of thought I decided that I wanted to become a teacher, the only thing that was left to decide was which block of subjects that I wanted to teach. I had always been interested in history, so I decided that history would be one of the subjects that I was going to study. The reason why I've always been interested in history, is that I belive that we can learn so much by studing our past. We can learn from our ancestors so that we don't repeat there misstakes, I also belive that by studing our past we can become better leaders, and hopefully inspire our future generations to do something god in this world. By teaching history I hope that I can teach my students to see everything from a larger perspective of life. I hope to show them that every part of the world is linked together in one way or another.

Another thing that I've always found fascinating, is all the secrets that our history is carring, secrets that are waiting to be reveald. A fascination that i hopefully can pass on to my students.
